Ways and Means Scrap Challenge - January - June 2007
The SCVQA is not having a quilt show in 2008. Ways and Means was grateful for and impressed by the amazing donations that made the boutique such a success at the quilt show. We don't want your creative juices to stop flowing. Inspired in part by our September and October speakers, we have decided to run our own little challenge with the guild stash of scraps and UFOs.
In January and February, the entire stash of scraps will be brought to the general meeting.
For a $5 entry fee, you will be given a one gallon zip lock to fill and zip shut with scraps.
You may also purchase 1/8ths and 1/4ers from ways and means to fill in any gaps you feel you may have.
From this, you will construct a minimum 36"x45" quilt, with the back, the binding and any
embellishments of your choice. The deadline for turning the projects in is June 15th with display
and voting for the winner at the June and July meetings.
AND HERE IS THE BEST PART----THE WINNER WILL RECEIVE A $50 GIFT CERTIFICATE TO NATURAL EXPRESSIONS!
The UFO challenge will be run similarly. Here, you will purchase and register a UFO and complete it any way you like. The deadlines are the same and the prize will be a $25 gift certificate.
And for all who enter and submit the projects by the deadline, you will be eligible for an at large prize of $25, drawn from the non-winners.
We would really like to make this project a success. Consider how much our speakers over the last year have inspired us to use every scrap. Show your creativity and courage!
Join the CHALLENGE! And help use out by donating your COLOR SORTED SCRAPS (bagged by general color) to add to our 12 boxes. I ask that you sort them because as we head into the holidays, the Ways and Means Scrap Queen, Berrit, will not have enough time to do the sorting.
AND REMEMBER: this is supposed to be FUN! Lots and LOTS of FUN!
