Quilt Show!

Every two years, an exciting event occurs in SCVQA and it is time for it to happen again! You will see beautiful quilts, enjoy interesting demonstrations, meet featured quilter Sue Frame, buy the latest fabric and quilt related products from vendors, check in on Philanthropy's efforts, see a miniature quilt show and possibly win a beautiful basket of goodies--most with a quilt in them. You will want to check out the 45 SCVQA completed workshop projects and explore the history of our association in a special 40th Anniversary display.

Your wonderful quilt show committee has worked diligently to make this the best show possible. Over 300 of your quilts, plus quilts from the Bay Area Modern Quilt Guild, will be hung on our beautiful new stands with black drapes--it should look very professional. There is also a new hanging system, very sleek and almost invisible in front of the drapes. Come early, come often, (your wrist band is good for the entire weekend) and bring your relatives and friends! The doors open at 10:00AM on Saturday and Sunday, March 14th and 15th.

As you make your way to the Quilt Show, consider using Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) Light Rail. The Great America stop is directly in front of the Convention Center. Those traveling by car are encouraged to carpool and find free parking at the Convention Center Parking Garage and the parking garage across the street from Levi's Stadium. Detailed directions to the Convention Center may be obtained at www.santaclara.org/gettingaround.

We look forward to seeing you and all of your friends at the Santa Clara Convention Center on the 14th and 15th. Spread the word!

Sue Benner is Coming!

Posted July 6, 2014

Were we ever lucky! Sue had a cancellation and we called at the right moment! Don't miss the September 22nd meeting where Sue will give her lecture Quilts: The New Geometry. This should be inspiring as she talks about geometric abstraction, comparing traditional quilts and 20th Century modern art.

Sue will be teaching her class Fusing the Grid twice - Sunday, September 21st and Tuesday, September 23rd. Create a series of several art quilts based on the grid. Sue offers many ways to work with rectilinear design using fusible collage as a construction method. This is a great workshop for developing new directions in color, working in a series, and experimenting with silk and other fibers. The techniques and ideas that Sue teaches here form the basis for much of her work. This workshop will be $60.00 per session.
