Community Service
One of the central objectives of our organization it making our community a better place to live. We work to help our neighbors and spread the joy of quilting beyond the bounds of our group. Check out our varied activities and see where you can lend a hand. Many hands make easy work, more fun and a bigger difference!!

Cuddle Quilts
Our largest philanthropy project is our Cuddle Quilt Project. In this project, we make and donate quilts to worthy causes. These quilts are given to various organizations who then give them to those in need.

Blind Baby Quilts
For the last several years, the members of SCVQA have generously handcrafted
and donated many quilts to the Bay Area's Blind Baby Foundation (BBF).
This organization works with families of infants and young children who
have visual impairments and often, multiple disabilities.
Your quilts have many uses for babies having no sight and babies with limited sight.
Feedback from BBF has been very positive about the value of our quilts to the
work they do with over 200 blind babies and their families every year.
Click here for a list of suggestions to stimulate your creative abilities when making a quilt for the BBF.
This is not an exhaustive list and is meant as a starting point only. In general, the quilt should be 'baby safe'; for example avoid beads or other embellishments that could be chewed off and swallowed. All materials in the quilt should be machine washable and dryable.
Christmas Drive
We have an annual Christmas drive for an organization helping victims of domestic violence. Each year, we collect clothing, toys, household goods and gifts to help make the holidays a bit brighter for the recipients.
San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles
We contribute our time and make regular donations to the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles. People from all over the world visit the museum and gain a greater appreciation and respect for the quilted arts.
Other Donations
We are also involved in a variety of other activities that help our community. These may involve teaching children to quilt or just collecting materials for other groups giving service.
